WHAT IS CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION?
1. To enable citizens to be well informed on their rights and duties as Nigerian citizens.
2. To bring about popular participation in democratic activities as against political apathy expressed by some citizens.
3. To develop citizen culturally, morally, and politically.
4. To create a conducive environment from the protection of citizens fundamental human rights.
5. Its designed to bring about political stability in the country.
6. To prepare citizens for future leadership positions in the society.
The laws and rights of individuals.
Laws are set of rules and regulations laid down by the authorities of a state to guide the all doings of members of such state. This rules and regulations are designed to ensure peaceful co-existence among citizens and also ensure that the fundamental human rights of citizen in the country are preserved.
TYPES OF LAWS
⏺️CONSTITUTIONAL LAWS : these are the laws that are in constition of the country. They are the bases for other laws in the country.
⏺️CUSTOMARY LAWS : These are the customs and traditions accepted and practiced in a particular society. They are usually accepted as legal in a particular society. They are usually accepted as legal requirements and are treated like laws by the customary courts in the administration of justice at the local government.
⏺️BYE LAWS : These are laws made by local authorities in our society when these laws are made, they remain binding only on members of such local communities.
⏺️INTERNATIONAL LAWS : Its a body established to regulate the conduct and activities among nations of the world. This rules bring together member countries and those that break this rules are sanctioned by the international communities.
⏺️CIVIL LAWS : These are the set of rules that guides the relationship between individuals and organizations.
⏺️CONCRETE LAWS : It is a set of agreement guiding business enterprise and their activities.
